SheetLoad Project #3

This is my last project from this month's issue of SheetLoad, and I decided to go for a more masculine feel. When I saw this little rock star, I just fell in love! I took Reilly to get his hair cut a couple of weeks ago, and he asked the lady if he could have big spikes like a rock star-LOL. Maybe Santa will bring him a little guitar...

My SheetLoad Projects: Week 2

This is another card I made for the December issue of SheetLoad of Cards, featuring Doodle Palace Digital Stamps! I made this little lion the main focus of the card by keeping it's size pretty large. I colored him with Copics and popped his face with pop dots. I added an extra layer of cardstock for color, and a ribbon "just because".

Ingredients: Stamps: Doodle Palace (Lion); Patterned Paper (Deja Views: Cat's Life); Cardstock: Stampin' Up! (Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Really Rust); Ribbon: Michael's (5/8" Brown Satin), Stampin' Up! (Hemp Twine); Button: Stampin' Up! (Button Bouquet); Adhesive: EK Success (3D Dots).

Vintage Butterfly Card - October SheetLoad

This is the third project I have in this month's SheetLoad eZine. I used a clear card base from ShortCuts. The striped paper, and the black layer that appears behind the newsprint DP is actually on the inside of the card. I made the ruffle with strips of paper and my sewing machine, and the fancy brad was actually silver before I colored it with my Copic markers.
All of the details and ingredients are in this month's SheetLoad! It's free, so go downlaod your copy today!

Shimmery Butterfly Card- October SheetLoad

This is my second project in this month's SheetLoad eZine. I used the Butterfly stamp in a "different" way by stamping in Versamark onto the decorative paper and embossing it with a shimmery embossing powder.

WHEW! I'm finally back.....

Wow what a week-- My Grandma was here visiting all last week and on Thursday me and the boys were taking her home to NC and planning to keep on driving down to Pawley's Island (SC) for a little beach weekend. About halfway home I had to stop the car and call an ambulance for my Grandma who was having severe stomach pain, passing out and very weak. Miraculously, the exit I pulled over on was 1 block from a hospital, and after a long day in the ER and an emergency surgery to put stints in her kidney, Grandma is home and doing fine. It turns out she had two gigantic kidney stones and one was completely blocking her urinary tract and causing all sorts of scary problems as you can imagine. She lives alone, so I am grateful that we were with her when this all happened and could get her help--but Holy Moly was that scary for a minute. My boys (ages 6 and 2) were total angels through the whole bit, partly I'm sure because they were scared and didn't know what was going on, but angels none-the-less! And the ER staff at the hospital were nice enough to let us stay back in Grandma's room with her, even though little ones are not usually permitted, which was great for us and for her-- she was so scared! Believe it or not, after all of that, we were able to go down to the beach on Friday and enjoyed the weekend. We just walked in the door....

Needless to say, my little ole blog has been neglected over the last bit, aside from some things I was able to set up to go live automatically! In fact, one thing I totally dropped the ball on is this month's Simple Special Stunning feature on SheetLoad's blog. You definitely don't want to miss this-- it is FABULOUS!

I've created a card using this month's SheetLoad sketch and one super cute digi from Squigglefly called 'Yum'! I kept it pretty simple and used the knot on my ribbon as one of the embellishments and the button at the bottom as the other.
