Whimsie Wednesday Challenge #66: Head of the Class

Nikki here with your new Whimsie Wednesday challenge!
One of my favorite things to do is to create treats for my sons' classroom buddies, and since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, my challenge for you today is to
create a Valentine themed classroom treat!

My projects today feature the new ValenTINIES and the Valentine Minis...
We put candy in each paper baggie and attached them to rulers for each student.

These are mini bookmarks I made using pre-made page markers from Staples that come about 30 to a pack and are very inexpensive.  In the pack, they come in yellow, blue and green.  These are going to be Valentine treats for m son's reading class.

Whimsie Wednesday Challenge #65

In today's Whimsie Wednesday challenge, Melyssa challenged us to make a tag!  Here is mine, featuring the Penguin Hugs image from Whimsie Doodles.  I used Copics and Prisma pencils with baby oil to color the image. The swirly clip is actually an ornament hook leftover from Christmas.

Join us for our challenge if you can-- as always, there is a prize!

Oh, SuMmErTiMe... I'm So Glad You're Here!

So if you knew me in life outside of papercrafts, you'd know that I often sing random snippets of songs...  and since it is summer, one of my favorites is Toes, by the Zac Brown Band.  My husband and I were lucky enough to see them in concert before they got super popular, and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to-- but I digress....:)  Anyway, my challenge today is 'Toes in the Water, Rump in the Sand', which is the first line of the song (minus the rump part, and plus another not so g-rated word for rump), and my original thought was to use the new super cute Laid Back Dottie, because she has both water and sand in the background-- what could be more perfect, right?  Well, then Melyssa went and created this awesome free image for our Facebook fans (click here to join us and get it!), and I started looking at the frosty beverage in Dottie's hand and sang the the rest of the verse (in my head so that nobody started throwing tomatoes at me)...  I've got my toes in the water, my "rump" in the sand, not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand, life is good today....  Well, beer is great if it is your adult bevie of choice, but some of us prefer a frosty bevie of a different kind, and in this case, it's a margarita!

So what is the challenge?  It's to create a project that features sand, water or frosty beverage (or all 3 if you are feeling ambitious!), in honor of three of my favorite summertime things!  Once you create your project, link it up on the Whimsie Doodles blog post for today (you should see the Mr. Linky), and leave us a comment to let us know that you are entering the challenge!  We will choose a random winner to receive a free image!  You will have until next Tuesday night, July 13th, at midnight to upload your project, get it linked and entered in our contest.  And good news, we're going to start doing this every week for our Whimsie Wedneday challenge-- Woo Hoo!  So, make a card (we'd love for you to use a Whimsie Doodles image, but it isn't required), and invite your friends to play along, too!  We can't wait to see your summertime creations!

And without further adieu, here is my card featuring the new Facebook Freebie!

Have a great day, ya'll...  and stick your toes in the water today if you get a chance ;)

It's Whimsie Wednesday!!

This week, Whimsie Doodles released some new Valentine images, called Funny Valentines!  This elephant comes with I Love You in the balloon, and a sentiment that says 'Elephant Shoes'.  Do you get it??  Remember when you were a kid and and would whisper elephant shoes and everyone would think you were saying I Love You?  Try it out in the mirror... I know you are all mouthing it right now-- hee hee!

Anywho, this card is for today's Whimsie Wednesday challenge over at Paper Craft Planet, which is to create a birthday themed card!  I made a new sentiment in the balloon to make this image fit the challenge.  What do you think??  Oh yeah, and don't forget that you can use the coupon code NIKKI20 at Whimsie Doodles to get 20% off of your entire order until February 4th!

Whimsie Wednesday Challenge... I'm Thankful for PIE!

Kelli is our hostess this week for the Whimsie Wednesday challenge on Paper Craft Planet, and we were to make a Thanksgiving Card.  I couldn't resist the urge to create a homage to PIE.  On holidays, my Granny spares no expense when it somes to dessert...especially Thanksgiving.  It's all about the pie, and  everyone's favorites are on the table... Pecan, Pumpkin, Coconut, Chocolate, Cream Cheese.....  there is enough pie for everyone to have their own whole one.  Others might say we're there for the turkey and the dressing, but I'm in it for the pie... in fact as you are reading this, I am in North Carolina stuffing my pie hole right now--LOL!

To make this image, I used the Berry Sweet freebie image and combined it with the pie from Let's Get Stuffed.  It's not as seamless as it was in my head before I made it, but you get the point, right?  And, I apologize for the picture.  It's too windy to go outside and inside I am pretty much useless when it comes to inside photos.

I hope you all have a wonderfully pie filled Thanksgiving!

Ingredients:  Stamps: Whimsie Doodles {Berry Sweet, Let's Get Stuffed}; Cardsotck:  SU! {Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Bravo Burgandy}; DP: Recollections; Ribbon: SU! {Crushed Curry, hemp twine}; Button: SEI; Ink: SU! {Really Rust}; Other: Copics, White Gel Pen.

I {heart} Ikea & Whimsie Wednesday!!

So after my trip to Florida a couple of weekends ago, I was inspired to visit Ikea, just to roam and see what wonderful alterable goodness I could find.  I picked up a BUNCH of stuff, and some of it may not turn out to be anything, but this one was quick and easy, I thought it was worth sharing!  PLUS, it fits with the new Whimsie Wednesday challenge that is hosted by our sweet Donna!!!

These little treat holders are part of the Christmas tree decorations at Ikea!  They come 6 in a box for 3.99.  Three of them are like this one (white w/ red dots, and the other three are red w/ white dots).  They had several patterns available, and I chose the polka dots-- because hello, I have hardly met a polka dot I didn't love, and, I thought I could pass these off at Valentine's Day if I don't use them all at Christmas.  I filled it up with Christmas Oreos (nothing says Christmas like Oreo cookies~ha!) because well, it was either that or Halloween Candy.  But think of all of the stuff you can put in these!!!  I'm hoping Santa reads this and fills up 4 or 5 of them with Copics for me ;)  Stay tuned tomorrow because I have an idea for something similar that I dreamed up while I was in Dollar Tree...

Ingredients:  Stamps: Whimsie Doodles {Sweet Sentiments}; Cardstock: SU! {Whisper White}; Ink: SU! {Real Red, Riding Hood Red}; Ribbon: SU! {Real Red}; Accessories:  Shapeabilities, Ikea Container, Oreos.

Whimsie Wednesday on Friday (and Mercy's Challenge, too!)

So with everything this week, I have been a few days behind! This card is for this week's Whimsie Wednesday challenge on PCP, which was to use 2 different Whimsie Sets to complete your card. I used the Tooth Fairy Boy set and the Party Monster set (for the gift). I cut part of the tooth off of the original image and then I paper pieced the tooth fairy's arms to fit around the gift after I attached it. I also used a stamped Santa's hat from an old SU! set (Jolly Holiday). The finished size is 4 x 4 and the sketch is courtesy of Mercy's sketch challenge this week (MTSC46), which is being sponsored by Whimsie Doodles! If you play along on the sketch challenge, you can win your own "Muffin Tops" set!

Ingredients: Stamps: Whimsie Doodles {Tooth Fairy Boy, Party Monster}, SU! {Jolly Holiday}, Studio G sentiment; Cardstock: Mark's Finest Papers {Snow Storm Smooth}, SU! {Basic Black}; Ink: Palette: Black; DP: Martha Stewart; Accessories: 3D dots, Nesties, Copics, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, CK Media Brads.

Fight Like a Girl- Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Melyssa at Whimsie Doodles has created a new digistamp and sentiment to help support breast cancer research.

Her name is Hope Fights, and we think she represents the pink ribbon campaign in a fantastic way. Hope is FREE from today (October 21st) through Friday, October 23rd, on the Whimsie Doodles website. After Friday, there will be a charge, with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer Research. Melyssa has decided to share her for free for a couple of days so that we can get as many people to participate as possible! In fact, Hope is our Whimsie Wednesday challenge at Paper Craft Planet today. So download Hope, tell your friends, and come play along for a good cause if you can!
Today is also the day for our Whimise Doodles sketch challenge on the Whimsie Blog. Share your creation on our BLOG using the sketch provided and you'll be entered to win a free digi! If you're like us, you like to combine challenges, so feel free to combine your Hope image with the sketch challenge!

Whimsie Wednesday Challenge #2

This week's Whimsie Wednesday challenge on PCP was to go Copic free! We couldn't use any sort of alcohol based markers for coloring the images-- and boy was that a challenge! I used Prisma pencils and Gamsol to color the frame and pumpkins from the Whimsie Doodles set, Bits and Bites. I hand cut the jack-o-lantern faces with black cardstock.
DP: Recollections; Ribbon: Offray; Button: SEI; Other: Prisma Pencils, Gamsol, Black Embroidery Thread.
