Sunny Day Stair Step Fold

Melyssa {from Whimsie Doodles} is UBER talented (and extremely modest), and if you have a few minutes to browse SCS, you should definitely check out her gallery {croppixie}. It is absolutely unbelieveable. Anyway, ever since the day I saw this absolutely incredible {Pirate Card} in Melyssa's gallery several months ago, I have been itching to try making a card using the Stair Step Fold. All this week on the SCS homepage they have been promoting a tutorial on this very fold (was it meant to be or what?), and I decided last night (okay I made this tonight and I am typing tonight, but it is too dark to take a picture TOnight...did you get all that?) I would try it out. Here is a link to the SCS tutorial. The fold itself it s VERY simple, and I encourage you all to try it! I used this fold with today's inspiration challenge on SCS. Here is a link to my inspiration piece. I was inspired by the way the objects on the vase visually float because of the clear background.

My scene features the Sunny Day digistamp set from Whimsie Doodles. Everything, with the exception of the blue cardstock base, started out white. I did lots of coloring with my Copics! In fact, all of the images except the clouds are colored/cut out twice and popped with, you guessed it, dimensionals. That is one craft supply I use on nearly every project I make! I wanted to make the images in the back two tiers appear to be floating, so used strips of clear acetate and attached them to the images and then to the card base. One neat thing I did on the hot air balloon was replace the printed ropes with black string-- that idea came from fellow DT member Kelli! I also added Shimmerz to the Sun and Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the cupcake balloon. I darkened the color of the felt ribbon with a Copic marker.

I was very happy with the result. So much so that I woke my husband up from a deep sleep to show him my card when I was done! I think he'll be way more impressed with my card in the morning when he can look at it with two eyes open instead of just one really squinted one-LOL!
Let me know what you think! I'd love to hear from you:)

Ingredients: Stamps: Whimsie Doodles {Sunny Day}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Whisper White}, DCWV {textured stack-blue}; Accessories: Copics, Shimmerz {Sunny}, black string, white gel pen, acetate, SU! {Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Dimensionals}, K& Company {Felt Ribbon}.

It’s Time for a Limelight Sketch Challenge!

It’s getting close to Father’s Day and I thought today’s sketch challenge over at Limelight would be the best way to get my creative wheels-a-turnin’! This Changito is available at Limelight, and when I saw it, it was love at first sight! This will be the perfect card for my boys to give to their daddy!
I used a blender pen and my Stampin’ Up! ink pads to color in the monkeys and give them a water colored look. I also used the out-of-the-box technique on the monkey square, and sponged around the edges to finish it. Layouts like this one are an awesome way to show off coordinating papers, and that is exactly what I did using the Wisteria Collection from Basic Grey, which is also available at Limelight Papercrafts. I even used a strip of leftover paper to add a little extra somethin' somethin' (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!) on the inside.

Ingredients: Stamps: Stampendous {Changito Piggy Back, Hang On To You}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Brocade Blue, Very Vanilla, Creamy Caramel}; Designer Paper: Basic Grey {Wisteria}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa}; Accessories: Stampin' Up! {Taupe Grosgrain, Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware, Dimensionals, Blender Pen, Sponge}.

Cute Can Koozies

How impressed would your friends be if you whipped these up for your next summer get together?? These Koozies were sooooo easy! I didn’t stamp on a single one. For the ones with paper strips, I cut a 1-1/2 or 2-1/2” x 12” strips of decorative paper and attached them to the koozies ($1 at Michaels) using super sticky tape. I attached the ribbon on the others with sticky tape as well! The super cute crystal stickers (available at Limelight Papercrafts) are the ‘Say It In Crystals’ made by Prima. All of the ribbon and Basic Grey paper is also available at Limelight.

Ingredients: Designer Paper: Basic Grey {Lime Rickey, Euphoria}, red gingham; Cardstock: Stampin’ Up! {Basic Black, Whisper White}; Ribbon: Limelight Papercrafts; Crystal Stickers: Prima {Limelight Papercrafts}; Other: Staples {Metal Rimmed Tags}, Creative Memories {Circle Punches}, Stampin’ Up! {Super Sticky Strip}.

Picnic-alicious!

This picnic basket is a little “Hello Summer” project I made for myself—which I never do! We’re actually going to drive up to the Parkway next weekend, and I thought this would be perfect for that! As soon as I saw this basket at World Market (one of my FAVE places to stock up on weird stocking and basket stuffers and unique containers!) I knew it must be covered in Lime Rickey!! They are seriously a perfect match, and the basket was only about $6.70! I cut the paper to fit the inside panels of the basket’s lid, and then treated it like a card layout. I printed the text on my computer and cut it out using the Top Note die. I added stamps and added some circles cut from punches. I stamped the heart in Riding Hood Red and then filled in the white spaces with Sunny Shimmerz and a watercolor brush. The heart and arrow are attached with dimensionals. I made matching napkin rings by taking plain wooden napkin rings simply by adding paper and stamped images to them. I decided to use real napkin rings as the base so that I could get more uses out of them. The picnic blanket was also a World Market find, and lucky for me matches the Lime Rickey, too!

All of the Basic Grey items, Ribbon, Adhesive Rhinestones and Shimmerz can be purchased at Limelight Papercrafts!
