Sketch Challenge #262

This card is for today's sketch challenge on SCS! I embossed the gigantic butterfly with UTEE and then added color with sponges.
The sentiment is a rub-on.

All supplies are from Mark's Finest Papers.

This Whimsie Doodles Blog Hop Post is Brought to you by the Letter....

Have you guessed it? It's the letter E!  For EMERGENCY....chocolate EMERGENCY!!  We all know what it is like to have that kind of emergency, don't we??
My project features the chocolates from the brand spakin' new Whimsie Doodles rubber stamp set called Lil Cupid
Eeeek!  I know right-- Whimsie Doodles in RUBBER--- how exciting?!?!?!!!

To make this little box, I took a pre-made Martha Stewart box and used a circle punch to make a hole in the lid.  Then I attached a piece of acetate from underneath to make a window.  The inside of the box is waxed and food safe-- so it is perfect for an emergency chocolate stash for your favorite chocoholic!

Ingredients:  Stamps: Whimsie Doodles {chocolates from Lil Cupid}; Cardstock: SU!{Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink}; DP: Basic Grey; Ink: Tim Holtz {Vintage Photo}; Ribbon: Michael's; Twine: SU!; Other: Copics, 3D Dots, button.

Don't forget to leave the other Doodlelicious Divas some love!

Lookie, Lookie, Lookie!

Whew.....  I have been in North Carolina since last Saturday and I am so happy to have my behind in my own chair, in my own house!  I visited LOTS of family and friends....  I did lots of visiting in NC (Hi Dawn!), SC to visit a newborn baby boy and his Mommy (Hi Holly!) and an accidental trip to GA (don't ask-- let's just say a GPS wouldn't be a bad idea for me!)...  I had a wonderful holiday and I am so blessed to have friends and family that love and care about me so much!  Why am I so tired if I have technically been on vacation for a week??

One of the highlights of my trip was being able to squeeze in a little visit with my friend Dawn (My Stamping Thyme)!  She has shown me all of her coloring secrets and I intend to practice and use them all!!!  She also presented me with the cutest gift EVER!  I am a firm believer that God puts certain people on your life for certain reasons, and I am grateful to have you in my life Dawn!  Thanks girl-- I had so much fun with you!

Check out what she made me!  She used my favorite Whimsie Doodles image and printed it on fabric to make this bag!  And she made everything pink (because I don't get a lot of that around my house!!).  She put details on her blog about everything-- eeek!  It is soooo cute!!

'Twas the Night Before Christmas....

Twas the night before Christmas, I’m glued to the tree.

I’m wondering what Santa brought just for me.

Could it be cardstock or inkpads or lace?

Or some stamps, I said, with a smile on my face.

And that’s when I heard him……

“Hi Santa, ” I said

He replied, “You know….good girls should be in their beds”.

“I know I should Santa,and now I’ve been caught.

But I was just so excited to see what you brought.”

“Well, let’s take a look in this room where you work”.

He shook his head quickly, and left with a jerk.

I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear.

“You’ve got enough crap,

I’ll see you next year!”

Company Christmas Cards, Part 2

As promised...  this is the second set of Christmas cards for my hubby's company.  Same layout and design as before, just different background papers.  All supplies, with the exception of the designer paper, can be found at Mark's Finest Papers.

Company Christmas Cards

Well, I guess you could say I was inspired by the 2 feet of snow outside....  I'm in the process of making/finishing the Christmas cards for my DH's business, and I decided to switch my plan and go with an old and simple favorite.  I actually CASE'd one of my old cards and made it into the standard 4.25 x 5.5" size.  I made three sets of 6 using different colors and background papers, and I'll post each of them over the next week.  Happy Holidays!

A Whole Flock of Frosty Fellas

Melyssa from Whimsie Doodles came up with the idea of these skinny cards to use as bookmarks (by attaching thin pieces of magnet on the insides) and I thought these would be the perfect little gift for Reilly to give his first grade reading friends at school!  These cute little snowmen are available at Whimsie Doodles now.  The accessories come on a separate image sheet, so you can color or paper piece, then mix-match with ease.  Because I had so many to make (I did 24), I did four in each color, with each of the four having a different jacket design.. plain, white dots, black dots and lines.  The coloring was done with Copics, and the lines and dots were added with white and black gel pens.  My DH colored the green jackets for me-- didn't he do a nice job??
What do you think??

Ingredients:  Stamps: Whimsie Doodles {Snowman bookmark/skinny card}; Cardstock: SU! {Whisper White}; Ink: Copics; Accessories: White and Black gel pens, magnet sheets.

CAS46: Muffin for Christmas!

Today's CAS challenge on SCS was a sketch!  I decided to use a previously printed Whimsie Doodle image and play along.  I tried bending a small acrylic stamp to stamp on the curve, but it didn't turn out quite as I'd hoped.  The image is colored with Copics and embellished with glitter.  VERY simple :)  The finished size is 4 x 4".

Ingredients:  Stamps:  Whimsie Doodles {Muffin for Christmas}, Studio G Sentiment; Cardstock: SU! {Whisper White}; Ink: SU! {Chocolate Chip}; DP: American Crafts; Accessories: SU! Glitter, Copics, 3D dots.

That's a Lot of Snow!

To put this in perspective....  These chairs are in a sunken play area in our back yard that is bordered by lumber.  I had to drag my legs through the snow to make a path my 2 year old could walk on (he was dying to play in the snow!!), but it was such a powdery deep snow, he had trouble moving around even with my path.  I think this is the snow storm my boys will tell their kids about one day.  We're still stuck at our house....  this is the one time living a mile off of a paved road is not so much fun :)  We've been doing all kinds of Christmas baking and card making and movie watching though, which sometimes you run out of time for in the last few days before Christmas, which is nice.
It is time for the December edition of Simple Special Stunning at the SheetLoad of Cards blog, featuring samples by Denise Wallace.

Each month one of our artists share three different cards that use the current layout. Each card is a "step up" from the previous one, but they are all fabulous. It is a good way to show how SheetLoad is geared toward papercrafters of all levels.

Here are some sneak peeks:

Limited Supplies Challenge #251

So I'm a bit late in posting this, as it was yesterday's challenge, but better late than never, right?  The challenge was to create a card with silver or gold in it.  I did that by embossing the pinecone ornament in gold.  I added color to the ornament by sponging.  What do you think?

SheetLoad Project #3

This is my last project from this month's issue of SheetLoad, and I decided to go for a more masculine feel. When I saw this little rock star, I just fell in love! I took Reilly to get his hair cut a couple of weeks ago, and he asked the lady if he could have big spikes like a rock star-LOL. Maybe Santa will bring him a little guitar...

LSC250 Easy Peasy-- Just How I Like 'Em

This card is for today's Limited Supplies Challenge, which was to use a star on our card. I used one of the branches from the 'All That Glitters' stamp set by Flourishes, stamped in two shades of green to create the wreath. I hand cut the holly leaves (I need a punch!) and sponged them in the same green colors as the leaves. The holly berries are Basic Grey adhesive pearls that started out green, but I colored with a red Copic. My star is from my kids' craft stash... it's a button!  The finished size is 4.25 x 4.25"
ETA:  To get them all in a perfect circle, I punched a 2" circle out of scrap paper, and stamped around it with my first layer.  Oh how I wish I could stamp that perfectly on my own-LOL!

Thanks for looking!! Have a great day!

It is time for one final round of Show Us Your SheetLoad and two lucky winners this month will receive free digital stamps from our December sponsor - Doodle Palace!!

This is my card for today's blog hop day 2!  All Flourishes stamps, cardstock, paper, ribbon, embellishments and ink are from Mark's Finest Papers, of course!!  I would like to share two little things I did here which you may find helpful in your cardmaking, and I've realized that I do a lot when i don't have the exact embellishment I'm looking for.  First of all the Basic Grey DP was exactly what I wanted in terms of design (I wanted a small, repeating pattern to make my image panel the star of the show).  BUT, the small dots on it were chocolate brown, instead of black.  So, I used a black gel pen (I often use Copics for this) and changed the color of the dots to black.  Also, the Basic Grey adhesive pearls were green and I wanted them to be black, so I used my black Copic marker to color them.  If you color with Copics on something smooth such as one of these pearls or a button, be very careful about handling them until you are sure they are dry!
Diamonds are forever...and so is black Copic ink!

Have fun on the rest of your hop!!

Cookies for Santa

Scroll down for Mark's Finest Papers Blog Hop!!

This card is for today's Whimsie Wednesday challenge, Cookies for Santa, which is to incorporate a cookie shape (circle) into your card.  I did this by using one of the Whimsie Doodles Whimsiecuts shapes and merging the Snowfriends image inside of it!  I don't have photoshop, but I was able to do this on Paint.net, which is a free editing program that can be downloaded from the web!

Ingredients:  Stamps: Whimsie Doodles {Snow Friends}; Cutting Files: Whimsie Doodles {Snowglobe Whimsiecut}; Cardstock: SU! {Whisper White}; DP: K Memories; Ink: Tim Holtz Distressing Ink {Vintage Photo}; Accessories: Copics, Flower Soft, Ribbon, Button, Twine, Sanding Block.

This is my card for the hop today.  It's actually a gift card holder! I made the base from Speedy the Cat Black cardstock.  The Ripened Tomato cardstock, ribbon, Basic Grey DP, Palette Inks and Flourishes stamp set, is also from Mark's Finest Papers.  I embossed the ornament in gold and sponged in the color with Palette Inks.  To make the ribbon a little wrinkled, I heated it with a heating tool used for embossing.  Thanks for stopping by~ have fun checking out all of the cool MFP design team creations.

TLC250 and CAS44

This project is pulling double duty for two challenges on SCS today. The first is TLC250, which was to make this adorable bag/box using two shipping labels. Only instead of actually using shipping labels, I cut my DP to the dimensions of the labels. The second is for CAS44 which was to use white, red and brown! This adorable image is the brand spankin' new freebie from Whimsie Doodles for our Paper Craft Planet page. I told you before-- membership has it's privileges :)

Ingredients: Stamps: Whimsie Doodles {Ginger Angel freebie}; Cardstock: SU! {Whisper White}; DP: My Mind's Eye; Accessories: Copics, MS Glitter, Nesties, Buttons, SU! Ribbon and Twine.

Metal Washer Pendants

This past Monday's technique challenge on SCS {click here} was to make a pendant for a necklace out of a metal washer (yes, like from the hardware store!).  I made a key chain pull version for the challenge, which you can see in my SCS gallery, but these, I made today because we were snowed in.  I colored them with my Copics, sanded them lightly just to get some marks in the design, etc.  Then just added the crystal effects on top and waited all stinkin' day for them to dry (by far, the worst part).  There are lots of ways to make these, as you'll see in the gallery at SCS.  Cool, huh?

Ingredients:  Copic Markers, Metal Washers, Crystal Effects.
