1, 2, 3 for UNITY

Unity is having a challenge on SCS to decide their guest designer for the month.  The rules are that you could only use images from the June or July Kits of the Month and you had to use (1) Stamp, (2) decorative papers and (3) embellishments.  This is my little entry.  I just received this stamp kit in the mail today and I decided what the heck...I'll give it a go.  I don't think I have a snowball's chance in you know where (I was thinking Florida, what were you thinking???) of being chosen, but there is only one way to find out, right?!
I used my SU! tool kit to make the sun rays by using the large needle to punch holes and pull the embroidery thread through to form stitches.  I've only done this once before on a card and I found that if you use the actual paper piercing tool to make the holes, they are a little too big for the embroidery thread and you will wind up with your knot going through the hole--not exactly the look I was going for at the time.  The felt ribbon strip may look familiar as I used the same style in my stair step fold yesterday, but this time I used a base shade of hot pink and colored it with a red Copic marker to match the red in the DP.
The finished size is 3.25 x 5.5 inches... the perfect size to tuck in my little one's lunchbox on his first day of first grade... sniff, sniff.
Oh, and FYI, this kit has a bee-you-tee-full sunshine image that would be just perfect with this sentiment.  I couldn't use it on this card because it would have violated the challenge rules, but you can!
Ingredients:  Stamps:  Unity {July Kit of the Month}; Cardstock:  Stampin' Up! {Summer Sun, Whisper White}, DCWV {navy textured stack}; Designer Paper:  Basic Grey {June Bug collection}; Ink:  Stampin' Up! {Night of Navy}, Copics; Accessories: Basic Grey Button, K & Co. Felt Ribbon, Gold Embroidery Thread, SU! Crafter's Tool Kit.
