Another Retreat Practice Project...

I’m still looking for the perfect swap project for my retreat next month! This card is a very simple layout that was one of my favorite sketch challenges on SCS.  I knew I would use it again one day!  What do you think?

Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin’ Up! {Sugar and Spice}; Cardstock: Stampin’ Up! {Whisper White, Basic Black, Basic Gray}; DP: Stampin’ Up! {Bride Specialty}; Ink: Stampin’ Up! {Basic Black}; Accessories: Offray {Black Grosgrian 5/8”}, Kaisercraft {Adhesive Gems}, EK Success {3D Dots}.

Wonderful Friend Frame

I’ve been racking my brain to come up with a simple project for a craft retreat I’ll be attending in October hosted by “Markie’s Mom”! Over the next few weeks, I’ll be posting some of my trial projects to see what you think. I still haven’t decided exactly what to take and use for my swap, so if you have any fantastic ideas, feel free to pass them along :)
This project is a desktop post-it-note holder.  It is super simple to make.  The base is one of those cheap, clear arylic frames and I put a piece of DP inside, instead of a picture.  I added the post-its to the front, a piece of ribbon and cut out the sentiment with my oval punch after I stamped it.  The only thing I am not crazy about is the size of this particular post-it note pad.  I'd prefer a smaller version so that you could see more of the DP.  But hey-- they were on clearance a long time ago, and I have been hoarding them and waiting for the perfect project to use them on.
Ingredients:  Stamps:  Stampin' Up! {Fundamental Phrases, Warm Words}; DP:  Stampin' Up! {Flock Together}; Cardstock:  Stampin' Up! {Whisper White}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Garden Green}; Accessories:  Stampin' Up! {Celery Twill Ribbon, Oval Punch}, Post-It Notes.

A little late, but here it is...

This gift card holder is for yesterday's Limited Supplies Challenge, where we were to make a gift card holder and use both chocolate brown and a butterfly somewhere on it.
I actually used one of those pre-fab gift card holders that we had from SU a couple of Christmases ago. I turned it inside out, added a scallop and decorated the front. The flower stamp is from Unity and I punched hole in the flower centers to add mini brads (which were white and I colored brown with a Copic). The butterflies are beads, that I just glued on with Mono Multi.
Ingredients:  Stamps:  Stampin' Up! {Sincere Salutations}, Unity {August '09 KOM}, Cardstock: SU! {Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip}, Ink: SU! {Chocolate Chip, Old Olive}; Other: SU! Pre-Fab gift card holder, mini brads, Copic, butterfly beads.

Teapot Tuesday on Wednesday

This card is for today's SCS sketch challenge (#240) and yesterday's Teapot Tuesday challenge from MotherMark, which was to take inspiration from a cow shaped teapot. The card base and center circle is a frosted card blank from ShortCuts.
Now apparently this whole cow thing is very serious situation. It seems that all of the cows are in a contest to become the next California Cow. Now, had I known this was a beauty contest, I would have dressed Patsy (named after my Aunt and not because she is big boned, but because she is awfully fond of moo-moos-HA!) up in her finest. She has this little sequined number that really shows off the udders if you know what I mean. I have to go now-- we have got to practice Patsy's baton routine for the talent portion of the contest....and if I have totally confused you, check out Mothermark's glob :)
Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin' Up! {On the Farm, Very Punny}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Basic Black, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink}, ShortCuts {Frosted Clear Blank}; DP: Making Memories; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Basic Black}, Copics; Accessories: Dimensionals, Mini Brads, Old SU! ribbon, May Arts Ribbon, Basic Grey buttons.

Ways To Use It Challenge (227)

This card is for today's Ways To Use It Challenge on SCS, which is to use two of something on your card....I used the feed sack twice on mine.  I stamped it twice, cut them out, and popped one with dimensionals.  I also cut out the farmer and the piggy.  I colored everything with Copics, and added black "stitching" with a gel pen around the edge of the circles.  I made the sentiment myself on the computer and cut it out with SU!'s word window punch, then wrapped it around the edge fo the card.
This set is an old retired Stampin' Up! set that is so much fun to color, and I needed some coloring therapy today.  I've been a little worried and we're heading to the doctor's office in a while for an appointment to see if my littlest one has a peanut allergy.  I'm hoping not, but if the last few days are an indication, then I'm afraid it is going to be yes.
Let's just pray he grows out of it, that it isn't severe and that it is only peanuts...
Ingredients:  Stamps:  Stampin' Up! {On the Farm}; Cardstock:  Stampin' Up! {Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White, Naturals Ivory}; Ink:  Copics, Black Gel Pen; Accessories:  Computer for Sentiment, Word Window Punch, Dimensionals

For Crystal and the Stampin' B's!

This little card is for Crystal {her blog here}, because she is celebrating 10,000 blog hits! We both got started with our blogs around the same time, so I wanted to make sure I helped her celebrate! She's having a blog candy giveaway on her blog to commemorate the event, so be sure to stop by there and get in on the drawing!

This card also fits with the Stampin' B's challenge this week {their blog here}, which was to create a card using only neutrals. That is WAY harder than you would think! I added color to the pearls, flowers and part of the background with my Copic Airbrush (it's still new to me, so I have to use it on everything!) I've been in to making odd sized cards lately, and this one is no different. The finished size is 3 x 5.5".

Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin' Up! {Sincere Salutations}, Basic Grey {Swiss Floral}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Chocolate Chip}, Tim Holtz distressing ink, Copics; Accessories: Copic Air Brush, Half-Back Adhesive Pearls, Sheer White Polka Dot Ribbon, Dimensionals.

Christmas in July!

Today's Ways to Use It Challenge on SCS is to create a Christmas themed card! My DH and DSs got me a Copic Airbrush system for my birthday yesterday, so I just had to try it out on this project! (How lucky am I??) I went with summery colors instead of traditional Christmas colors-- I couldn't completely let go of summer :)
The finished size is 3.5 x 3.5".
Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin' Up! {Merry and Bright, Tags Galore}; Ink: Copics, Stampin' Up! {Old Olive, Close to Cocoa, Whisper White}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Whisper White, Wild Wasabi Textured}; Accessories: Nesties, Ribbon, Dimensionals, White Gel Pen.

Quick & Easy: Page Marker

This is just a quick little project that many of you have probably seen before, but I thought it was worth sharing!This is a page marker/bookmark, and it just slips over the corner of a book page to save your place. To make all you need to do is cut a piece of cardstock into a square (I made mine with a 4 x 4" piece of cardstock, but you can customize yours to any size). Score your square to make four equal quarters (on mine I scored at 2" on each side). Snip away one of the quarters with your scissors and use adhesive to secure the two ends together (to form the square). I used my Nesties to make scalloped edges by cutting a full scalloped square out (the one that was one size larger than my finished page marker), and then cut it on the diagonal and attached it to the inside of my marker.

This page marker also fits the Stampin' B challenge this week, which was to use both wet and dry embossing on our projects. The Nestie provided the dry embossing, and after I stamped and cut out the Trendy Trees, I covered the entire images in Versamark and clear embossing powder for the wet embossing portion of the challenge. Aside from the use of Nesties, this project is entirely Stampin' Up! Finished Size is 2 x 2".

Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin' Up! {Trendy Trees, Everyday Flexible Phrases}; Carstock: Stampin' Up! {Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi}; Accessories: Versamark, Clear EP, Ribbon Originals, Dimensionals, Nestabilities.

It’s Time for a Limelight Sketch Challenge!

It’s getting close to Father’s Day and I thought today’s sketch challenge over at Limelight would be the best way to get my creative wheels-a-turnin’! This Changito is available at Limelight, and when I saw it, it was love at first sight! This will be the perfect card for my boys to give to their daddy!
I used a blender pen and my Stampin’ Up! ink pads to color in the monkeys and give them a water colored look. I also used the out-of-the-box technique on the monkey square, and sponged around the edges to finish it. Layouts like this one are an awesome way to show off coordinating papers, and that is exactly what I did using the Wisteria Collection from Basic Grey, which is also available at Limelight Papercrafts. I even used a strip of leftover paper to add a little extra somethin' somethin' (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!) on the inside.

Ingredients: Stamps: Stampendous {Changito Piggy Back, Hang On To You}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Brocade Blue, Very Vanilla, Creamy Caramel}; Designer Paper: Basic Grey {Wisteria}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa}; Accessories: Stampin' Up! {Taupe Grosgrain, Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware, Dimensionals, Blender Pen, Sponge}.

Little Odd Forest Inspiration Challenge (IC181)

This is for today's Inspiration Challenge, which was to take inspiration from the Little Odd Forest website {Click here for my inspiration piece}. The sunshine and sentiment are from the same stamp set, but I couldn't find a single cloud in my collection! So, to match the style of the card (and my inspiration), I hand drew the clouds, embossed the paper and then cut them out. The sunshine is stamped on the base, then stamped again and cut out. I also used a Build-a-Brad for a little extra dimension in the center of the sun. My finished card is an itty bitty 3.5 x 3.5".

Ingredients: Stamps: Inkadinkado {Tell It Like It Is}; Cardstock: DCWV {Textured Orange}, Stampin' Up! {Barely Banana, Carribean Blue, Real Red, WW}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Basic Black}; Accessories: Stampin' Up! {Build-A-Brad, Dimensionals}, White Gelly Roll pen, Cuttlebug EF.

Take It From Us.... (WT218)

This is for toady's Ways to Use It challenge (WT218), which was to use a tin. I needed to make a mini album of some sort for my son's kindergarten class...long story, but their teacher is pregnant, and we're having a surpise shower for her with the kids next week and her 4 year old daughter is coming, too. This album is for her daughter, and our kindergarteners are going to write some sibling advice for her and we'll put it in this album. This is a Maya Road accordian album tin.
Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin' Up! {All In the Family, Bundle of Joy}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery, Shimmery White}; DP: unknown; Accessories: {Martha Punch, half back pearls, paper piercer, white gel pen, sheer ribbons, dimensionals}.

Bandanna Mojo Monday

This card is for today's SCS Technique Challenge and today's Mojo Monday sketch challenge. The technique challenge called for us to use the bandanna technique, which is essentially stamping a background stamp and then hand drawing (or doodling) with a white gel pen to create the illusion of a bandanna print. On my card, the bandanna print is the ballet blue strip.
Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin' Up! {Paisley Background, Doodle This}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Ballet Blue, Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Ballet Blue}; Accessories: {White gel pen, silver dot stickers, dimensionals, Copic markers, scallop edge punch}.

Inspired by Faviana {IC178}

For today's Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast, we were to take inspiration from Faviana prom dresses! I picked {this one}! The swirly designer paper I used was actually brown where you see black now. I used my copic marker to make it black, then I added the "Faith" dots. I also added Faith dots to the sentiment, which I made myself on the computer. The image is a digi from Pink Petticoat! Thanks for looking!
Ingredients: Stamps: Pink Petticoat {Little Friends}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Basic Black, Pink Passion, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Pink Passion, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise}; DP: American Crafts; Accessories: {White Gel Pen, Hodgepodge Hardware, Pink and Black Gingham; Dimensionals, Black Copic}

SCS Sketch Challenge 226

Today's {SCS Sketch Challenge} was a fun one-- can you believe I actually found a use for Glorious Green?? {That alone was a challenge for me, LOL!} I made a very manly card...it has all the manly essentials, beer, fishing, no girly designer paper :)

Ingredients: Stamps: There She Goes {LOL Taglines}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Whisper White, Real Red, Glorious Green, Bashful Blue,Brilliant Blue, Basic Black}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Basic Black, Close to Cocoa, Going Grey, Bashful Blue, Brilliant Blue}, Copics; Accessories: {Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain, diamond brads, Cuttlebug embossing folder, white gel pen, dimensionals}.

SheetLoad DT Submission Challenge

All week I have been hard at work making 3 cards (+1 beyond the card~which means anything but a card!) for the SheetLoad Design Team challenge. For those of you who don't know what SheetLoad is, it is a wonderful & free online papercrafting magazine. It's an awesome resource and I am so excited about this challenge! They are picking 4 new design team members based on entries such as mine, so wish me luck! Some of these cards may look familiar, as I was also participating in some SCS challenges along the way!

All of my projects are inspired by the April 2009 issue of Sheetload! {Click here to check it out!}
Here is the layout that was my inspiration:

For my first card, I used the sketch exactly as shown above. I stamped and cut out the flower image and added it to the card with dimensionals, to make it pop out from the page.

Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin' Up! {Bodacious Bouquet, Warmest Regards}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Certainly Celery, Brocade Blue, Naturals Ivory}; Designer Paper {Stampin' Up!, Basic Grey}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Brocade Blue, Certainly Celery}; Accessories: Stampin' Up! {Button Bouquet, Sale-A-Bration ribbon bundle, dimensionals}.

For project number two, I just had to download an adorable Anya digi from the Greeting Farm! This one is a brunette with Copic colored hair! I paper pieced her cap, gown, diploma and shoes with DP from a Simply Scrappin' kit by Stampin' Up! The star embellishments and other DP are from the same kit. This layout is basically the same as the sketch, but I used the Top Note Sizzix doe to create the starry red background shape and better frame the Anya Image. I also paper pierced the Wild Wasabi layer to mimic the piercing in the top note die cut.

Ingredients: Stamps: The Greeting Farm {Graduate Anya digi stamp}, Stampin' Up! {Warmest Regards}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Basic Black, Wild Wasabi, Shimmery White, Brocade Blue}; Designer Paper: Stampin' Up!; Ink: Stampin' Up!; Accessories: Stampin' Up! {stickers, dimensionals, Watercolor Wonder crayons}, Copic Markers.

My third project is one of my favorites because I love ribbon! And this one has a big pretty bow on it. I took the sketch on this one and actually stamped both the image and the sentiment on the same panel, rather than adding the tag to the right.

Ingredients: Stamps: Inkadinkado {Birds}, Stampin' Up! {Small Script}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Pretty in Pink}, Curious Iridescent Poison Ivory; Designer Paper: K & Company {Amy Butler}, Ink: Stampin' Up! {Old Olive}; Accessories: {Green Satin Ribbon, Corner Rounder, Adhesive Gems}.

For the 'Beyond the Card' project, I was inspired both by the sketch, and a project in the April '09 issue by Katie Skiff (Rya's lunch bag). I made this in honor of my kindergartner's tee ball team, the Red Sox. This Batter Ian from the Greeting Farm reminds me so much of my little guy! This is a (party favor sized) kraft lunch bag from Target (you can find them where wrapping paper is). I folded the bottom flap down and embossed the entire bag with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I paper pieced his Jersey, hat and bat. The baseball is a button from Jesse James and I made the sentiment myself on my computer. The white stitching is "faux"--made with a paper piercer and white gel pen. The flap stays put in the back with a Velcro dot. I'm thinking it will be the perfect thing to hold Cracker Jacks at their team party!

Ingredients: Stamps: The Greeting Farm {Batter Ian digi stamp}, Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Shimmery White, Real Red, Not Quite Navy}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Real Red, Going Gray, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, Blush Blossom, Not Quite Navy}; Accessories: {baseball button, Cricut, paper piercer, white gel pen, circle punches, Velcro dot}.

**BONUS* BONUS *BONUS*
I was really inspired to see what I could do with this sketch, and I have two other cards that I made and wanted to share. Both were based on the original sketch, but I flipped them, stretched them, rounded them and made them look way different. I just wanted to show that you don't always have to stick to the rules to make a great card!

This first card has been posted once already, but I wanted to explain how I came up with the layout. I took the sketch and reversed it, both left to right and top to bottom. Then where there were rectangles, I made circles and ovals. The two embellishments are the chocolate chip swirls. I love the colors in this one-- definitely in my top three favorite combos.

Ingredients: Stamps: Inkadinkado {Birds}, There She Goes {Crafty Taglines}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Caribbean Blue, Chocolate Chip}; Ink: Stampin' UP! {Caribbean Blue, Chocolate Chip}; Decorative Paper: K & Company {Addison}; Ribbon: Stampin' Up! {Chocolate Chip Taffeta}; Die: Sizzix.

The second card is simply turned horizontally and since the background paper is so ornate, I decided to use only a background stamp and sentiment and let the fancy paper do the talking!

Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin' Up! {Touch of Nature, Looks Like Spring}, Carsdstock: Stampin' Up! {Basic Black, Shimmery White}, DP: Basic Grey; Accessories: black grosgrain ribbon, black brads, paper piercer.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
And thank you SheetLoad for such a great challenge!

Make Yourself at Home (LSC217)

So today's limited supply challenge was to take inspiration from the colors of a room in our house. It took me a while to decide on one, but I went with my craft room, which has walls painted Caribbean Blue, and chocolate brown carpet.
Ingredients: Stamps: Inkadinkado {Birds}, There She Goes {Crafty Taglines}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Caribbean Blue, Chocolate Chip}; Ink: Stampin' UP! {Caribbean Blue, Chocolate Chip}; Decorative Paper: K & Company {Addison}; Ribbon: Stampin' Up! {Chocolate Chip Tafeta}; Die: Sizzix.

Oh the Places You'll Go, Anya! (SC225)

Today's sketch challenge on Splitcoast was to use this paneled layout! I've had this Dr. Seuss paper for a long time and I love to give graduates copies of The Places You'll Go as a gift, so when I saw this Graduate Anya at The Greeting Farm, I immediately knew I had to use the two together. I paper pieced the cap, gown and diploma, and used a combination of Stampin' Up! markers and Watercolor Wonder crayons to color in her face and hair.
Ingredients: Stamps: The Greeting Farm {Graduate Anya digi}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Perfect Plum, Basic Black, Shimmery White}; DP: Stampin' Up! {Certainly Celery Patterns}; Ink/Crayons:
Stampin' Up! {So Saffron, Blush Blossom, Pretty in Pink,
Certainly Celery}, EK Success {Dr. Seuss-The Places You'll Go}; Accessories: Stampin' Up! {Blender Pen}

April Sheetload Sketch Challenge

Have you heard of Sheetload online magazine? I found it today and it is FANTASTIC! I was one day late from being able to apply for their design team calls (intent had to be e-mailed yesterday-- rats!), but they do have a monthly sketch challenge for free stuff, and this month it is from the Greeting Farm!!! And who wouldn't love that??
Here is my entry, wish me luck!

Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin' Up! {Bodacious, Warmest Regards}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Certainly Celery, Brocade Blue, Naturals Ivory}; Designer Paper {Stampin' Up!, Basic Grey}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Brocade Blue, Certainly Celery}; Accessories: Stampin' Up! {Button Bouquet, SAB ribbon bundle, dimensionals}

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge (B&W+1)

I know I'm posting these a little backwards, so if I'm confusing everyone, I'm so sorry! This card is for a challenge called the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge, and the rules were that we have to use black and white plus one color-- and there must be something stamped on your project! Well, this card is super simple, but I made it to send to one of my besties whose favorite color is the this limey green! In fact the ribbon on the card is the same ribbon I used on her wedding programs.

Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin' Up! {Simple Sayings II}, Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Basic Black, Whisper White}; DP: Target {Dollar Spot}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Basic Black}; Accessories: Stampin' Up! {Black Brads, Scallop Edge Punch}, Costco {Green Satin Wire Edged Ribbon}.

Skeem Inspiration Challenge

Today's (okay, actually tomorrow's) IC176 challenge was to take inspiration from the Skeem website. I loved it! It's all candles and matches and so ROCKSTAR to me! My card was inspired by a particular pack of matches: Royalton. I picked colors totally based on the matches-- it isn't something I would normally put together, but add a silver studded belt (aka ribbon with silver brads) to the top and I think it works!
What do you think?
Ingredients: Stamps: Stampin' Up! {A Little Something, Baroque Motifs}; Cardstock: Stampin' Up! {Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Orchid Opulence}; Ink: Stampin' Up! {Orchid Opulence, Cranberry Crisp}; Accessories: Stampin' Up! {Black and Orchid Grosgrain, Silver Brads, Dimensionals}
