Take It From Us.... (WT218)

This is for toady's Ways to Use It challenge (WT218), which was to use a tin. I needed to make a mini album of some sort for my son's kindergarten class...long story, but their teacher is pregnant, and we're having a surpise shower for her with the kids next week and her 4 year old daughter is coming, too. This album is for her daughter, and our kindergarteners are going to write some sibling advice for her and we'll put it in this album. This is a Maya Road accordian album tin.

Matchbook Style Baby Announcement

Oldie but goodie-- this one has been up on Splitcoast for a long time, but I still get requests for instructions, so here they are:
Step 1: Cut the outside piece of cardstock to the following dimensions: 8-3/8” x 4-1/4”.
Step 2: Stamp one side of the cardstock as desired.
Step 3: Score the cardstock at 1” and 5”, and fold at the score marks in towards each other, forming a “matchbook”, with the stamped images on the outside.
Step 4: On the bottom 1” portion of folded cardstock, punch two holes, staple or insert a brad through both layers of folded cardstock. If punching holes (as in my announcement), insert ribbon from the bottom and tie into a knot or bow to secure the folded layers of cardstock together. At this point you should be able to slip the longer piece of cardstock in behind the 1” portion to hold the announcement together.
Step 5: Stamp and layer your outside images as desired. (I didn’t get specific here because you can do whatever you want!) On the inside I matted the paper with only a 1/16” border, and used my slit punch to accommodate an oversized wallet picture measuring 3-1/4” x 2-7/8”, but again this portion is all about personal preference!

I Shall Call Them Buttons

These "buttons" were created out of necessity for one of my best friends at her shower. She wanted the Grandmas and Aunts to feel special at the shower, so I made "Grandma to Be" and "Auntie to Be" buttons for them, and of course a super-special "Mommy to Be" one as a surprise. The rest of these have been by request and I keep some made for baby shower emergencies! I have also branched out into birthday buttons. They're fun to make and acid free, so the pin can be popped off and the whole thing can go into a scrapbook after the big event.
